Unfortunately (for me) it deepens the mystery, if they are not book mark and cross references, what an earth have I done?

Looking at the drop downs on the cross referencing menu I cannot see the fields there so presumably they are some kind of 'quick part'.

without expecting you to be clair voyant (!), can you think what I may have created or where I should be looking. Or indeed the best resource for learning method for achieving what I am after which is:

When template is opened there are a variety of boxes which, if the first one is filled in it propagates to the boxes throughout the document.
