Just had a problem with my Word 2007. Microsoft updates totally screwed it up and I could not use it at all. My computer guy had to delete a lot of Microsoft updates and then delete the Word program completely and then reload it again to get it to work. Now, I no longer have the “tools” option in my tool bar. How do I get this back?

This does not solve my problem. I had this feature on my previous Word 2007

There are no 'toolbars' in Word 2007. If you had toolbars they were in templates created by an earlier version of Word and probably appeared on the Add-ins tab of the ribbon. It's been a long time, but I did produce http://www.gmayor.com/toolbars_in_word_2007.htm which covered the issue.
If you no longer have those old templates then you will no longer have the toolbars they contained and if you don't have an earlier version of Word you cannot create them. In any case it is possible to modify the ribbon to customize it http://gregmaxey.mvps.org/word_tip_p...bbon_main.html There is a QAT (Quick Access Toolbar) by default on the Word title bar to which you can add commands. These are stored in templates, by default the normal template.

Thank you, but I am not a computer rocket scientist. I am a computer illiterate senior citizen with no computer skills whatsoever

In that case I'll make it simple for you. Read the first two sentences of my earlier reply.

Click the Office Button > Word Options > Proofing > AutoCorrect Options > Un-check “Capitalize the first letter of sentences’ > OK > OK.
