Hello All,

I think I have accidentally edited one of the default style ( numbe 4 to be precise).

This is the default one

In the default style, numbers are give to each paragrapgh when I select the style. Now all info are missing.

Thanks as always.

In the document where the formatting is incorrect, apply the Heading 1 style to a text paragraph, click in that paragraph and then click Home | Multilevel List | Define New Multilevel List. Specify the desired number format for each of the nine levels and re-associate the heading styles as needed (see also https://shaunakelly.com/word/numberi...10.html?p=1768).

this thing about numbering gave me problem already in the past.

thanks to both of you, I have tried following your tutorail and guide but once I change the numbering of one paragraph, the numbering of all documents are messed up!!!.

I have solved in a more "manual way".
I select the heading I want to editi, end actually deleted manually the numbering, and typed manually the new numbering I want to assign. Word in auto create new correct numbering. It seems to work. At least I need to change few sections.

Thanks as always.

Note that the "manual way" is exactly that: manual. It is very likely that future edits will break the numbering again.

As a long-term solution, you really should set up numbering properly. Once it has been completed, you can save the document as a template for easy reuse.

Indeed you are right. I am using this temporary solution beacause I need to change only few paragraphs. For future documents I will keep using the default system of numbering.

Thank you for your time and help.
