I have investigated the "borders" idea, and I cannot find this particular evil among them.

I have been using borders for years now, and I would think that I could manage that if it were one, but I will look again--I am forever surprised at the amount I don't know.

Since you wrote that the line moves as you try to delete it by deleting the surrounding paragraphs, I concluded that border formatting was the most likely "culprit."

I'm sorry if I was unclear...and I've deleted the document. I had to recreate it...ugh.

It actually didn't move--at ALL. It's just that the cursor wouldn't let itself land near it. If I tried to click near it, the cursor would place itself to the nearest spot in the text.

If I tried to click in the middle, it would put the cursor at the corresponding place in the text--above or below, respectively.
