![]() I purchased Word 2016 from a re-seller and when I open a Word Doc, I get an overdisplay showing "Let's Get Started, Choose one, Try, Buy, Activate" when I enter the Product Key, it is not recognized due to being from a re-seller. While I can delete the overdisplay, I would like to eliminate this process entirely as it is a nuisance. Any help you can provide would be appreciated. |

That suggests you've either been sold a copy of Office with a pirated key or that Microsoft has revoked the key due to the licence-holder's abuse of its license conditions (e.g. selling multiple copies of a Multi-user edition of Office with the same key). If so, Office will become essentially unusable one month after you installed it.

The answer does not apply as I have had this license for over 1 year now. Any other suggestions on how to fix the problem.

In that case, if it's Office 365, your subscription may have expired.

So there is nothing that can be done to remove this overdisplay and I will have to continue doing what I have to remove the overdisplay. Right.

Well if it's an expired Office 365 subscription and you don't renew it, you'll soon find yourself unable to print, or to save any edits...

I am getting replies however all are missing the subject of n=my enquiry, everyone is talking about Word that I purchased from a re-seller going to be cancelled or I will be asked to re-subscribe. My question was "How do I get rid of the overdisplay". This is what I want answered and not questions about what is going to happen regarding Word.

You get rid of it by renewing your subscription... Don't renew and that message will soon be the least of your worries with using Office!

I do not have a Subscription, I purchased Word 2016 outright 2 years ago. Knowing this can my question be answered or do I have to live with my mistake of purchasing from a re-seller.

Grumpy, I feel your frustration. Please remember that answers here are not coming from Microsoft but from your fellow users. So far, those answers have been from Paul Edstein, one of the most knowledgeable and patient people who post here.
We cannot see your screen. A screenshot of what you are seeing would help. How to attach a screenshot or file in this forum. It is possible to get a message about an expired subscription even if you never subscribed if a trial version of Office was included with a computer. This is true even if you install a one-time purchase version of Office or Word. |

The point is moot now as I upgrade to Word 2016 thru MS today. Problem eliminated. Thanks everyone for putting up with my comments.
