![]() I have a footer in a Word legal template, page numbers 1-8. On the screen, it shows each page with the correct number. However, when I print the document, all page numbers show as "1". I've never had this happen before and this is a court doc that needs to be filed today. Any help would be appreciated. |

Press Ctrl+End before printing or print backwards.

Hi Charles,
Thank you for your suggestions. Unfortunately ctrl+end did not work and I cannot find a print option to print it backwards. I have run the quick repair for MS Office as well as updating my printer driver, but neither helped. Any other ideas would be greatly appreciated. (I ended saving as a PDF so I was able to print it, but I really need to figure out what it wrong) |

Unfortunately that did not work either. Today I also ran the online repair for MS office, but that did not help either. Just FYI, when I print a document in WordPerfect, the page numbering is fine, so it's definitely a problem with Word. If you have any other ideas on what my next step should be, I would greatly appreciate it.
Thank you. |

As a workaround, you could save the document as a PDF and then print the PDF.
For further troubleshooting, see if the problem is document-specific or if you can reproduce it in any document (with page numbers) that you create in Word.

Thanks for your reply. I did end up saving that particular document as a pdf. As far as being document specific, it is not. I printed several different documents, some going back a few years, but each one printed with all pages numbered 1. This is a fairly new problem and I really don't know where else to go for help. I have googled the heck out of it with no success.

I'm glad you at least got it to court on time!
Does this happen if you start Word in safe mode? Open Office apps in safe mode on a Windows PC - Microsoft Office Safe mode is not a way to regularly use Word, but it is a valuable diagnostic step. If your problem goes away when you use Safe mode, we can walk you through other steps that may help eliminate the problem. Please write back. If it works in Safe mode, you may want to look at the following while waiting for more information from me or here on the forum. Add-Ins in Microsoft Word This has been a problem in Word for a LONG time, popping up and disappearing. The suggestions I made originally are what has worked in the past. |

Because a lot of my clients use older versions of Word, I had been saving as .doc, which never caused a problem in the past. It turns out that if I save as a .docx when I want to print something, it works! Thanks for all your help.
