Sledge hammer work-around: Erase the second 2 and type 6. Nuanced work-around: Erase the second 2 and type "docproperty pages" without the quotation marks. Select that, press Ctrl+F9 and then F9. *************** The nuanced work-around put "Page 8 of 6" in the header on every page, so that didn't work for me. Then I noticed that there was a table breaking across the page break onto the last page (the one with the weird page numbering). I changed things so the table didn't span the two pages, and the page numbering corrected itself. I don't know why that made a difference, but I'm not going to argue with something that worked.
