How to Prevent auto period after two-letter state abbreviation

The only place this would occur in Word would be in AutoCorrect. Can you check to see whether you have AutoCorrect Entries for the state abbreviations involved?

Likely location: Word > Preferences > Proofing > AutoCorrect Options

Sorry, I do not have a Mac. Most features work the same in Windows and Mac but the interface has differences.

Thanks, Charles. The problem is that I have all autocorrect options off, and it's still "correcting" state abbreviations.
