I'm trying to prepare my manuscript for printing.
I've set Mirror Margins to leave a wider margin in the middle for binding - and that works fine until I insert a Break after the index (to insert page numbers starting at Chapter 1 (which is the 7th page of the document). The problem is that as soon as I insert the break (to add pagination), the margins from Chapter 1 to the end of the document flip so that all of the wider margins needed for binding are on the outside of the pages. I've tried adding additional blank pages - no good. I've tried making a separate document of the first 6 pages - also no good. To get the first page of Chapter 1 on the right side of the book, which I want, I still need a blank page inserted at the beginning, which means I need a Break to insert page numbers, which results in shifted margins. Again. I've tried it with Odd and Even Different, and without it. I've tried with Mirror Margins on, and with it set to Normal. (It won't even let me set the whole document on Normal and then change each page to different margins.) I've tried EACH type of Break. I don't know what to do. Do I have to choose between having mirrored margins and having page numbers? Please help! Mellie |
