When creating an instructional guide for training participants, we use Word to provide instructors with notes and participant with content on alternate pages.
For example, when viewing an instructional guide in two-page view, the first two pages consist of the logo and title of the course and the subsequent pages alternate with Instructor Notes on even pages and Participant content on even pages. Pages need to be numbered the same for the instructor and participant, with pages 3&4 both as page #1, pages 5&6 both as page #2, pages 7&8 both as page #3, etc. However, we need to generate a TOC with JUST the page numbers for the Participant. So, when you ctrl-click on a TOC page number, it will bring you to the Participant section of a page #1, page #2, etc. The issues include: · How can you easily number pages (i.e. toggle) to obtain what is outlined above instead of manually changing the pages 3&4 as page #1, pages 5&6 as page #2, etc. · How can you set up a TOC to update automatically and reflect the correct page numbers when you have your page numbers set up this way? |

I don't think this is possible. As far as I know, page numbering is set up to number pages consecutively.
You could set different left and right footers, with the page number only appearing in one of them, but it will still progress in multiples of 2. The other pages will be counted but not shown in the footer. The only other option I can think of is to set the page size as double your actual page size and divide it in half (2 columns). That way you could get the same page number to show in two places. Not sure how you'd print it though. |
