I have an "interesting" issue with font display in MS Word 2013.
If I create a NEW document, any font on my system displays correctly and prints correctly. GOOD! But I am trying to assist with the editing of a document created by someone else, and, even though I have deliberately saved it to a new file name, and the {.docx" format "native" to 2013), the fonts do NOT DISPLAY correctly on the screen, even though they do print as expected. I noticed this when I decided to change a font, and many of the choices did not correctly display. I created a NEW document, and the same fonts worked just fine. So...NEW DOCUMENT --- fonts DISPLAY and PRINT correctly. .......Document from another person --- fonts do NOT DISPLAY correctly, but DO PRINT correctly. I am sure this a setting somewhere, and I can live with THIS document, but I would like to understand what the problem is for future reference. Thank you. jp91306 |

Without actually seeing the problem document, it can be difficult for anyone to diagnose the issue. Can you attach a document to a post with some representative data (delete anything sensitive)? You do this via the paperclip symbol on the 'Go Advanced' tab at the bottom of this screen.

Before I waste a lot of other people's time...the fonts that are not displaying all show the PRINTER Icon in the font list. Most of my fonts show the "O" (Open Type) Icon. So that is a clue. Just don't know where to go with it.
They are all ADOBE fonts, with all the "parts" in the folder: pfm, pfb, inf, & afm. They display properly in the Windows 7 "preview" in the font library...and...they are show properly in the MS Word "font floater" as you select options for them (Bold, Italic, etc.) They just don't display in the doc. This could be a "feature"....(sometimes called a bug). On the same machine, in the Publisher Application...they SHOW PROPERLY. Do I need some sort of tool to convert them to Open Type? Thank you, jp91306 |

Have you tried repairing the Office installation (via Windows Control Panel > Programs > Programs & Features > Microsoft Office (version) > Change > Repair)?
