In my world, that is not proper writing protocol. As a formal writer (now retired) of engineering documents I have always followed writing standards for whomever I worked for. Now, obviously, each company/firm/country et al have their own (modified) standards but, I have NEVER come across what you are looking for. That, to me, does not make sense. And, if you are going to use the styles option within Word, that process you are seeking cannot be obtain...AFAIK.
