I am trying to create a legal document. I have always used "LaTex" in the past, but I am now required to use MS Word. My problems are many, but htis is the first one.
I need to create a multi-level list that looks like this: Code:
All of the sections should be left aligned. The initial numbered list should start 0.25" indented. then 2 spaces and then the text. Each line of the numbered list should align with the start of the new text, not the number as shown. (I hope) Is this possible to do with word or not? I can accomplish this so easy in LaTex ![]() ![]() |

You will probably have to use a pair of SEQ fields for the Article and Heading e.g.
Article { SEQ ARTICLE \* ROMAN } { SEQ Heading\* ALPHABETIC } New Heading Use CTRL + F9 for the bracket pairs { } then save the two as autotext or autocorrect entries for ease of insertion. You will have to update the fields manually CTRL+A then F9 to display the correct values, especially if you move text containing the fields as they don't update automatically. The multilevel list can then suffice for the outline level numbering. Graham Mayor MS MVP (Word) www.gmayor.com |

It ALMOST works. I saved it to auto text, and I can start typing "article" and at that point given the option of inserting the text. What I cannot do is force it to appear on a new page. I tried using the "Insert contents in its own page", but that does not apparently work. Of course I can manually create a page break before the new article, but I should not have to. Am I doing something incorrectly?
Now I know why I was told not to use MS Word to write a major legal document. It is approximately 80 pages long and I am all ready starting to pull my hair out. If I could find a way to convert LaTeX to MS Word format seamlessly, I would do it. At least the morons who run this department would be happy. |

You need to bear in mind that Word formats using styles, so use a style for the heading that includes the page break before option. Use a second style for the sub heading without that break.
