Default Changing Uncheckable Boxes to Checkable Boxes

I am using Microsoft Word 2010. I have a document with multiple uncheckable boxes (over 700 boxes). I would like to replace all the boxes, which I believe are wingdings, with a checkable box. From what I've read online I can't do it with multiple selected items all at once. Does anyone know if there a is macro that I could run to find and replace each wingding with a legacy check box?
