Brent,

To change the default font in the endnote area of a word document in Word 2007, please follow the steps below.

1. Switch to normal view

2. Selects Footnotes on the View menu

3. Click View footnote area or View endnote area

4. Click OK

5. In the note pane, click All footnotes or All endnotes

6. Select the Footnote or Endnote that you want to change the Font

7. Use the Menu or Toolbars and make your changes

Dear A. Trivedi: I too want to change the font in my endnotes, but your instructions make no sense to me.
You begin, "1. Switch to Normal view." I assume you mean on the Home Menu. I did that.
Next, "2. Select Footnotes on the View menu." There is no "Footnotes" on the View Menu. Footnotes appear on the References menu.
"3. Click View Endnote Area" Where? I find no such instruction in either the View menu or the References menu.
Are you sure you are answering for Word 2007? Please clarify. Or perhaps someone else can answer the original question. Thanks.

Default Change font

Hello.

Please ensure you are using Word 2007, as the instructions provided are only for Word 2007.

Once you are in the Normal View, all these instructions should make sense.

I, myself, tried them before sending them over.

Simply selecting a footnote or endnote and changing its font is not the correct way to go about this task. Doing it that way means you might have to do every footnote separately and has no effect on any new footnotes or endnotes.

The correct way to change the footnote or endnote font is to change the footnote or endnote paragraph Style definition. To do that in Word 2007:
• click on any footnote or endnote
• click on the little angled arrow below 'Change Styles' on the Styles tab to open the Styles panel.
• scroll up/down till you find the 'Footnote' or 'Endnote' Style, as appropriate.
• click on the ¶ symbol next to the Style name and choose Modify, then change the font to whatever you want.
• when you've changed the font, click OK. The change will now apply to all exisiting and future footnotes or endnotes(as applicable, provided they're using the footnote or endnote Style - which they do by default)
