Do not change anything in the registry based on something you read that is not addressed specifically to you.
Corruption in your document is more likely than in the template. It would likely be the file normal.dotm. Can you edit any documents? How to Find the Normal Template Page numbering /header / footer problems Word 2007 - 2016
