Default How to Edit "locked" Selections

Hi all,

Need help / advice editing specific parts of a word document. I can edit most of the document but there are many parts that do not allow me to edit them.

When I try to edit this I get a message stating: "you can't make this change because the selection is locked".

Any idea on how to unlock this?

Version is Word 2016 - it is also a valid copy that is registered (googling this issue has just kept stating invalid version/copy marked as final which neither of these apply to this case)

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Worst case scenario if I cannot edit this how would I make a new selection box like the one above. it looks to be a text box with a popup that is linked to other parts of the document.
