You are going to have to edit it using a full version of Word I suspect.
From brief exploration, content controls don't work in the online version.

Some can be deleted, but they cannot be changed. Date Picker Content Controls cannot be changed nor deleted.

Here is a link to a document with some kinds of Word features that do not work in the online version.
