How to port templates from Word 2007 to Word 2016?

You would put them wherever you want. You have to know where that is. Word 2013 and 2016 provide for setting a location for Custom Office Templates that may be the location you would want.

The default location for user templates is the same in Word 2016 as for earlier versions.
