I second Macropod and Charles Kenyon in their comments on Master documents.
Also, fwiw, I've always issued documents as important as an annual report in .pdf, whatever I've been using to create them. There's a slight risk of tampering if you send an editable format, and a larger risk that your exquisite formatting in Word may give different results on the CEO's laptop :-}
