Unhappy Creating webfile for upload to Kindle

I have written an e-Book - I took great care to make sure my photos were all 1920x1200. Whenever I create either a web file or a filtered web file from my 2010 word doc it saves two copies of each image - one low res - the other high res - the difference is stunning - a 1.2 mb file becomes 56K. I want folks to be able to zoom in when using their Kindle and I am totally uncertain as to which one Kindle will use - but in view of the fact my 335 mb upload becomes 17 megabytes I have a fair idea. Does anyone know what is happening here?

A thorough net search has not revealed anyone else asking this or an allied question. I did find out that when Word saves RTF files it saves two copies - one in the original res and the other low res ...

Default Filtered web page

I can produce filtered web page image folders which contain only one low res copy of my images.

Typically they have reduced from 1 MB to 50k .....

I did - but all I got from them was upload the zipped folders - which of course I did. But I checked the image sizes before zipping and they were typically a fraction of the originals. I did everything I could think of to maintain quality - selected don't compress, put in upload original image files (1920x1200 at 300 ppi) etc etc.

I uploaded a PDF of the Word doc to my website so a couple of friends could look at it - the images there look great and they can even be zoomed in on a little. I figured Word should be able to do just as good a job with a filtered web page. You can check out the PDF here:

And thanks for taking an interest - much appreciated

I have no experience with making web pages out of Word documents.
I would suggest taking your original photos and placing them in the folders with the same names as the reduced-size ones (replacing them).
