Hi
'Monday', '6pm', 'Down' ‘Monday’, ‘6pm’, ‘Down’ I use word to place quote marks around various variables by using find & replace The first line above is the result from my old laptop which has since died The following line is from my current desktop What do I need to change to get the quote marks as in the first line? In any Word version, a single Find/Replace for quote characters could only produce the second version, not the first. To get the former result, especially if the quoted terms are variable, a fairly complex wildcard Find/Replace might be required.

Hi Paul
I do NOT do a single find & replace for quote characters............. I find say Monday and replace it with 'Monday' and there are many instances of Monday I have been doing what I described many times on my laptop and got the 1st line result each time The end result is that I create a .sql file for input into Netbeans IDE Netbeans IDE does not like the second line as input Bob M |

Perhaps you should consider what you're posting instead of telling me:
Quote:
I see you later edited your reply to say you're not using a single Find/Replace. In that case, what you'd need to do is a Find/Replace for the term(s) requiring straight quotes with the Replace expression expressed as: ^39^&^39

Hi Paul
What I wish to know is what do I need to change on my new computer so that I can simple find and replace say Monday with Monday enclosed in single quotes without resorting to ^39 stuff Bob M |

You could turn off Word's auto-formatting of quotes - but then you wouldn't get the smart quotes for the others... Using ^39 is a whole lot simpler IMHO.

There are two sets to turn off - did you turn both off?
