Perhaps you should consider what you're posting instead of telling me:
I am, in fact, quite correct; it cannot be done with a single Find/Replace for quote characters in any Word version.

I see you later edited your reply to say you're not using a single Find/Replace. In that case, what you'd need to do is a Find/Replace for the term(s) requiring straight quotes with the Replace expression expressed as:
^39^&^39
