My old laptop died and I had to buy a new one. However, I still find Office 2010 useful and reinstalled it. On my old laptop, my word defaulted by selecting the first paragraph of documents that I created as the default save names. I liked this. When I reinstalled office to my new laptop, it has changed the default name to "Document1", which I do not like, as I have to type in the names I want, which is more time consuming especially with complicated names. How do I change back to word saving by the first paragraph? I know others may not have liked that, especially when the first paragraph might by a salutation or address and as a result, there is a lot of help for people to change this default save and no information on how to go back to it! I really want that feature back. I am now using windows 10. Help? Advice? Thanks

One method that you can customize how your files are saved via File/Options/Save. Not sure that will give you what you want or not but, you can check it out.

What happens if you start Word in Safe mode?
(This is not a way of using Word long term. It is a diagnostic step.) |
