Hello everyone,
I have an issue that I simply can not figure out. I am a computer technician by profession but am not afraid to ask for help when I need it. I recently installed Office 2010 on a customer's computer (who just so happens to be a VIP in the organization) and I am having the following issue: When I click on the File menu and go to 'Save As.." (or Open) the computer makes a ding noise and nothing else happens. The thing is, if I close Word and open it again, the error will go away sometimes. I would say that the error occurs 75% of the time though. I checked the Microsoft Office logs in the event viewer and noticed the following entries that coincided with the times of the error: ![]() Office 2003 professional and Office 2007 pro were on the PC before I installed Office 2010. I installed Office 2010 along side the other two versions. All three versions were installed along side each other. Here is what i have tried: -Removed Office 2003 and Office 2007 -Repair install Office 2010 -Add and remove Word 2010 -Run Office 2010 in safe mode -Disable all add-ins -Verify the page file in Windows is set correctly -rename the normal.dot file -install the latest Office updates -cleaned temp files and registry with ccleaner Other programs currently installed on the PC: -Novell Client -Adobe Acrobat 9 -Roxio Media Creator -iTunes -Symantec Antivirus Office 2007 began to have this issue after Office 2010 was installed. It didn't have the problem before. Office 2003 'save as' works just fine. The save icon will save the document just fine. Just using 'Save as..' or 'Open' does not work. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you |
