My auto save function does not work - i set it for five minutes, work for five minutes, nothing, six minutes, nothing, no auto save at all - i lost a doc, went looking for it, nothing - no auto recovery pane, nothing - auto save has gone dark

any solutions?

Word does not have a true AutoSave feature. It will query you when you try to close a changed document. It will save autorecover information in case of a crash.
