I have a document with a specific text which will need to display 2 versions, a longer version the first time it appears on each page, and a shorter version every time it appears thereafter on the same page.
e.g. suppose a company name 'Widgets R Us (a widgetco subsidiary)' and it's shorter version 'Widgets R Us' I have this working using a macro in another document, but this current document will have an area where the user will edit text in a certain area within the document, and I can't use the macro to cleanup afterwards. Is there a way to do this (either using field codes or some other device) which will automatically update when the text reflows as the user is editing the text? |

I don't believe what you're after is feasible. Why can't your macro clean up the text afterwards?

Sorry for the late reply, I've been swamped with work, and the holidays were hectic.
Thanks for the verification; I didn't think there was a way to do this, but if there was, you'd be much more likely to know than I would. Once the client runs the program from the template we provide them, the resulting documents will be ultimately distributed as a macro-free file to other people to use with the editable areas enabled, so we have no control over the final users. |
