I see you are using Word 2010... Options > Advanced, checkbox 'Show crop marks' isn't what you want?

If not, you might try this, not sure if it will suffice...
Use a textbox (not a rectangle) and set the line color to no outline
Then Options > Advanced, checkbox 'Show text boundaries'
