Default Mail Merge "pop-up" questions

Many, many years ago (about 30) the word processing programme I used had the facility to "merge to printer".

What this meant was that you could imbed merge field items in a document that required answers to be given during the merge process and it would then imbed the answer in the document when it was printed.

This was a really useful facility for form filling but I have not been able to find an equivalent in Word. Does anyone know how this can be done?

Many thanks for your feedback.

Nick

Word has a range of such tools, but I can't see how what you're asking about has any necessary connection with a mailmerge.

As for possible solutions to your problem as stated, you could use a FILLIN field - to insert data just at that location - or an ASK field - to use cross-references that replicate the data in multiple locations. See: https://support.office.com/en-us/art...rs=en-US&ad=US
