![]() The implication of your problem is that you have a bulleted style applied to the bulleted text and that style is formatted in blue. The style is probably one of the built-in ListBullet styles. You don't need to open the normal template to fix it, you should be able to do it from the document. Modify the style in question from your document to give the required appearance and then as you leave the style dialog, ensure that you check the box 'New documents based on this template' and OK out of the dialog.
