Unhappy space bar "deletes" as it "spaces"

I had updates on my Microsoft account on April 15, 2015. Now, as I am creating a document for my U.S. Honors class project, if I need to go back and change my wording of a sentence it will let me delete and type but when I hit the space bar it deletes a space as I hit it. This is so inconvenient for me. I have not changed any settings except fonts and spacing, which I have always done when starting a document. I end up having to erase everything I had typed after the part that I wish to re-word. This results in me rewriting two or three paragraphs after I had already had wrote and then the words are not the same because I am over the epiphany of it and moved to another thought.

PLEASE, help me. I still have two more semesters after this one, and I cannot get as much done with my word doing this. I starting to panic because it is Final Exam time.
