I need to submit four financial documents as one document for a grant application. In WordPerfect, there is a very easy way to insert a text document into another, but I can't find a way to do it with Word. I can't be the first person who has needed to do this, so how's it done?
Thanks! Richard |

There is a master document feature in Word, but it has ever been reliable.
Combining multiple documents into one could be as easy as copy and paste, but it all depends on which result you want, and that, in turn, depends on the formatting in the source documents.

In WordPerfect, 4 clicks to insert a document (or photo or whatever). 8 clicks to insert a text document with Word (I figured out how to do it, as you suggest, with copying and pasting). A triumph of marketing over user-friendliness.

Unfortunately, some commands are buried more deeply in the hierarchy now that we are using the ribbon interface (compared to the old menu interface), yes. I can't comment on WordPerfect, because I've never used it.
Note, however, that copy and paste can be done quickly with keyboard shortcuts. Again, the best approach depends on what you want to achieve. It is possible to maintain separate documents and bring them together using INCLUDETEXT fields. For that purpose you can use the Insert File dialog box.
