SOLVED!
I have a gadget called "Clipboarder" to manage my clipboard. When I close it, Word does not prompt to save; when I re-enable it, I get the prompt. So I guess I will just live with it. Thanks Charles for your suggestions. I really appreciate being able to get the help. Bob
