Default Titles: How to find the subtitles

Hi

I've been using several version of Word, but currently I'm running Word 2007 on my work PC.

I seems it's only possible to make Headline, Title 1 and some other formats. However, every single Word I've used in the last several years I've always been able to choose from several different titles. It seems Word just created another title every time you start using another level of titles.

A screenshot has been attached (note: Overskrift 1 = Title 1 / Title = Headline (yes, that's the Danish language in a nutshell ).

I've searched the web, but it seems everyone has access to the different levels of titles.

Furthermore, I can't find the navigation pane (see second screenshot). In Danish called "Navigationsrude" - but it is not to be found though it seems other Word 2007 users haven't encountered the same problem

Hope someone can help, and thank you in advance!

Are you sure that the built-in headings are not called Overskrift 1, Overskrift 2, etc.? Those would correspond to Rubrik 1, Rubrik 2, etc. in Swedish and to Heading 1, Heading 2, etc. in English. (Title and Subtitle are separate styles, not part of the standard headings.)

To see all styles, look in the Styles pane (Ctrl+Shift+Alt+S). Click the Options link at the bottom right which opens a dialog box that let you choose to display all styles.

The styles that display in the style gallery are not the full set of styles available. Even the most simple Word document contains well over 200 built-in styles - but most are hidden from view because they clutter up the display.

You will have to do the Danish translation on the following information but this is how you can show the missing Heading styles in your style gallery.

1. On the Home tab, click the dialog launcher in the Styles group (it is a tiny icon in the bottom right corner of that group on the ribbon.
2. The Styles Pane will appear and you then click on the 'Manage Styles' button down the bottom of that pane. If you hover over the buttons you will see its name (or similar in Danish).
3. In the Manage Styles dialog, Edit tab, find and select the style you wish to show and click the Modify button.
4. There will be a check box in the bottom left corner that says 'Add to the Styles Gallery'

Thank you for your help

Oh yeah, was headings I was talking about. Didn't know about the Styles pane, and that was exactly what I was looking for.

As also shown in the second screenshot I don't have the Navigation pane-button. Can you give an explanation to why this isn't found? And maybe how to solve it It is a bit better than Document view that i currently use I think, and a lot better than the Minitures which shows the pages in minitures. The Minitures are at default when I start Word so I'll have to switch it manually to Document view every day.

Navigation Pane is the term used in the most recent version of Word. Dokumentoversigt (Document Map in English) is the corresponding term in Word 2007.

To prevent the page from showing miniatures, try increasing the zoom. You can use the slider on the bottom right of the document window.

Hi again

Sorry the long time for at reply to your helping answers.

Didn't work by using the zoom function. However, I can switch from minitures to Document Map by one click.

Do you know if / how to change to Document Map by default for this and new documents?

I realize now that "miniatyrer" is the option that is called "thumbnails" in English versions of Word. Word 2007 offers a check box for the Document Map and one for Thumbnails, while recent versions have both options in the Navigation pane.

Assuming that you selected the "Document Map" option, it should be enabled even after you close and reopen Word. I don't know of a situation where Word would force the display of thumbnails instead. I can imagine that it would happen in a document that has no heading styles applied to text, but I haven't been able to reproduce that.
