Reduce large space after footnote separator

Thank you. I had already found that excellent page but it didn't solve my problem.

In case someone else runs into a similar problem I think it might be a bug in Word 2002. I decided to do what I needed to do (fontsize change etc) on the same doc document in Word 2007 and the problem did not develop. Reloaded the changed doc in Word 2002 and all remained fine.
