I accidentally deleted a word document permanently.

Now when I search using the keywords I remember I used in the document, the document shows, but it is not opening as the file location was deleted.



when I click the file it shows the details, but it wont open.

it is a DOCX word file.

PLease please please please please help!!

First, change your Windows settings so that filename extensions are displayed.

Then, if what you are seeing has a .bak extension, change that to .docx.

Otherwise, the file may truly be gone. What you may be seeing is a ghost - an index entry referring to a file which is not there.

it does show that the file type is DOCX but it wont open

How is it able to read the contents of the file when I search it?

I hope all is not lost.
