the above file is a word 2007 file that will not open because of a problem with the document.xml, i dont know much about this and have tried to fix it but couldnt. if anybody could try to resolve this, any help would be much appreciated.

I took a look at it and couldn't get the xml doc to open. The cause of document corruption seen most often on these forums is related to use of USB drives or other external media. Did you store your document on a USB stick?

yes a USB was used, however someone i knew got the IT person where they work to recover it, thanks for your help anyway,

Glad to hear you got it worked out. For future reference, when within Word, only work on documents located on your hard drive. Transfer to/from mobile media should only be done from Windows with the document closed in Word.
