![]() Hi, I have a large document that I have created and edited using Word 2010 (on a PC). I have recently had to work at a new site and have had to edit the same document using Word 2003 (the only version they have on site). I encountered a number of minor issues, most of which I could work around, apart from one in particular: the 2003 version added multiple bookmarks where there should not be any. My document does have a lot of bookmarks but when opened in Word 2003 the number of bookmarks quadrupuled, which I couldn't work out why given there were whole sentences appearing in the navigation pane as bookmarks - yet they had a Normal style applied to them. When opening the same file back in Word 2010 there was again all the new bookmarks that 2003 added! Any ideas why this would happen? Presumably I should not opened the file in Word 2003! Cheers. |

Without knowing more about the editing process and seeing the problem document, it can be difficult for anyone to diagnose the issue. That said, Word 2003 won't of itself add any bookmarks - an errant third-party Word addin on the PC concerned might, though.

Word 2003 has a "feature" called the Document Map which is similar to the Navigation Pane in Word 2010 but not the same. It is known to cause problems. I do not know that is the source of your problems.
