I cant tell you the how but I can help with the what.
Those marks are called crop marks.

To turn them off click the round Office Button at the top left. Choose Word Options > Advanced. Scroll down to the section called "Show Document Content". Remove the check in the "Show Crop Marks" and click OK.

Should be gone!
