This is the kind of problem that Word saves for a deadline...
I'm using a fairly new template but it seemed to work fine recently. The continuation (second) line of all Heading 2's is blank, and no paragraph symbol appears at the end of the heading. The style definition has the following entries on the Paragraph> Indents and Spacing window: Indentation>Left: blankWhen I set the above to 0, none, and blank, and click OK, the message says: The measurement must be between -22" and 22"That is, it somehow acquired a crazy definition and won't let me reset it. I need a way to get rid of these settings. Many thanks for any help. |

What happens if you set it to .5?

Try copying some text formatted with the heading 2 style you want from another document into your document and telling the paste options to keep source formatting.

In answer to your first question, it won't let me make any setting at all, either within or outside of the range it specifies.
I tried your suggestion of pasting from another document and keeping the format, but it had no effect on these specs. |

What happens if you copy the Heading 2 style from another document? Does that improve the situation?
If not, treat the document as corrupt and copy the content, minus the final paragraph mark, into a new, blank document. (To see paragraph marks, ¶, as well as other nonprinting marks, click the ¶ button on the Home tab.)
