Default Getting macro to work

I've never done this in Word so need a hand with the basics, please.

Alt F11 gets me onto the VBA editor and I can insert a module. I hope I can record a Macro which will

a) Table-Convert-Table to Text

b) Edit replace ^t with Nothing
c) Edit replace asterisk with Nothing
d) Possibly a couple more strings to replace with Nothing.

If that succeeds, how is the macro called from Normal View ?

Thanks.
