![]() Hello, I created a form in Word 2010, protected it and made a template out of it. Everything worked as expected. I then copied the template and original document (from which I made this template) to a thumb drive, brought it to my office, placed the template in the appropriate location (...roaming...MS...templates) and when I create a NEW document from this template, I cannot click in the form fields, and cannot move the cursor from the initial location. In short, at home I can fill form fields, tab between fields, and the placeholder text disappears as I type. In the office, I cannot do any of the above. The cursor simply blinks in front of the first character. Can anyone help me out here? I tried this on two different computers at the office with the same result. |

When you copied to the thumb drive or from it, were you using Word or Windows? Word behaves very rudely when using thumb drives or other mobile media.

I copied using the Windows interface after saving the document and after saving the document as a template,

The copied files have probably been damaged. Replace them with new copies of your original files.

I tried several times... no good. I've attached the template if you guys wouldn't mind having a look. I'm attaching this from my home office computer, the one from which I created the form in the first place. I just now checked to see if it works still from my home PC, and it does.

You have the template protected for forms with a password.

The template you attached is a .dotx file. It, by its structure, cannot retain macros.
When I create a new document based on the template, I am initially in the first content control. With the tab key, I move from field to field. With Shift-Tab I return to the previous field. Is this not what you experience? |

SteamBC please advise if you got it to work - I'm having a similar problem except I'm putting my .docx file (based on a .dotm template) on a webserver and the macros dont run when Word document opened off the webserver. I can navigate between textboxes but my macros dont work.
Regards. |
