For any of my TOC style levels the tab stop positions are not listed in the 'Tabs' dialog box. Why is that? For precision, I need to adjust the tab positions numerically rather than by dragging them with the cursor; therefore I need them to be listed numerically.

You will find the numerical tab stops when you modify the TOC paragraph styles. I recommend using the TOC dialogue box (References/Table of Contents/Insert TOC) and going to Modify each of the relevant TOC levels. Modify brings up the Paragraph dialogue, at the bottom of which is the Tabs button.

As I wrote in your other thread, you may not see the tab stops for the TOC styles, because Word creates these dynamically (often, but not always, successfully). You can add your own, and Word will honor them.
