Hi all,
I'm trying to create a simple XML file that works as a template in which once it is filled in with information, I can import it into my layout program (Adobe InDesign.) I have created an XML file with 4 Tags: Riffeypage(root),Headline, Body, and Image. When I create my XML file with Dreamweaver, import the tags into my layout, and import the data into my layout, the information imports perfectly (See Tags Image Below "TagsfromDW_XML file"). But when I try to create the same XML file in Word, it adds all sorts of extra formatting tags, probably close to 100 tags (See Word Tags Below "TagsfromMSWordFile"), and my layout program doesn't know how to import the data from the Word XML file. How can I duplicate the Raw XML file I created in DreamWeaver in Microsoft Word, without having it add all sorts of reformatting tags? All I want are the 4 original tags. (See "DWRawXML") Thank you for your help! |

Can't you show your users how to enter these four tags in a text editor? I don't think Word is really meant for handling plain text, especially once you start using tags it may recognise. Alternatively, use InDesign to create a form so you can extract the data using fdf – but that's obviously a question for another forum ;-}
