Hello folks.
![]() New to the forums here, and I am really stumped. Let me show you an example of my situation below: ++++++++++ Before we get to the secrets on how to achieve this in such a short amount of time, it is important, no vital, that you first understand how unique your own body really is. Page 13 By doing so, you’ll have better focus and a clearer picture of what you can become when moving forward with these methods, and avoid the pitfalls of false hopes so common in the fitness industry. +++++++++++ What I need/want to do is remove all of the page numbers (along with the word "Page") from this 300+ page Word doc. This is a plain text file and the page numbers are inline with the text. I was given this expression, which was supposed to work: Page [0-9]{1;3} Using Advanced Find/Replace but all I get is this message: "The Find What text contains a Pattern Match expression which is not valid" Does anyone have any advice for me? I'd appreciate any/all I can get at this point. Thanks for your help on this... P.S.-- I am using Word 2011 for Mac OSX |

Did you remember to select the wildcard option in the Find and Replace dialog box?

Try changing the Find expression to:
Page [0-9]{1,3} The ';' is for use on non-englisg systems that don't support the ',' separator.

Hello...
![]() Yes, I am sorry to report that I just tried this: Page [0-9]{1,3} With "wildcards" checked. Here is the result: "Word has finished searching the document. The search item was not found." This is, of course, pure crazy talk, since they are obviously right there, hundreds of them. ![]() I am opening the text as UNICODE, Western when it asks me upon open. I see nothing but clear text, no trouble with viewing or altering the file in any other way. This is proving to be a bit maddening, indeed. I appreciate any and all suggestions and I thank you all for your time on this. Any other input that I should try? |

An added wrinkle here. If I open the devoted Advanced Find and Replace dialog box under the edit menu and choose either the "Find" or "Replace" tab/button at the top, I can find the "pages" entries one at a time, for example "Page 104" (no quotes) will pull up display and select "Page 104". However, when I try to use the expression you folks suggest, it continues to act as though they aren't there, telling me that the document has been searched and no entries found.
Thank you all again for helping me with this, I sure do need all the help I can get. Have a great day... |

If the 'space' between 'Page' and the number is not a standard space character, a Find expression relying on the standard space character won't work. Try with:
Page[!0-9]{1,5}[0-9]{1,3} Basically, this says to find 'Page', followed by 1 to 5 non-numeric characters of any kind, then 1 to 3 digits.

Hello!
It took some very creative searching, but I did refind this forum. Somehow, I had closed the tab and my history deletes every Sunday evening. So, needless to say, I lost this post. However, Iw as able to find it again through my email and I thank you for this, it worked PERFECTLY! Have a splendid day, thank you again... Jason |
