Hi ksm,

Given that it's nearly two weeks since I suggested to Robert that he update the display driver, and he's not responded to say it didn't work, I can only conclude doing so resolved his problem.

As for your issue, given that you've tried two different versions of Office and multiple applications within them, it's unlikely to be an application software problem. Of course, if it is, and if it relates to components that Office 2007 & 2010 share across multiple applications, then upgrading quite possibly won't fix anything. I note too that your profile says you're running Office in 64-bit mode. That can cause problems with adins, as many don't work properly in that maode. This is also why MS generally recommends against using 64-bit Office just yet. Even so, your description suggests a more fundamental issue with the OS software. As yet, you haven't given enough details of what your issues are to give specific advice, though reinstalling Windows from scratch will probably fix whatever it is.

Hi Paul - Thank you for your response. Good news! Samsung hinted that my specific monitor model had reported compatibility problems w/ W7. So to test that theory, I bought a new monitor today and, so far, all is well. Doesn't solve my need to understand root cause but it solves my need to be fully productive again. :-) What I do with two beautiful 21.5" Samsung monitors remains to be seen.

I don't understand your comment about 64-bit. I've been on Windows 7 64-bit from the beginning and, until three weeks ago, had no problems. Could you please elaborate? We didn't try reinstalling Windows 7.
