I am having the same problem. I was looking for TIVO information on Yahoo and clicked on a website, and the next thing I knew, everything went bad. All my .xlsx, .docx and .jpg are all corrupted.
I went on line with McAfee and of course, they know nothing about it, just stated that virus protection is not 100 % perfect. Maybe my payment should not be 100%. I used system restore and then reloaded Mcafee. I still cannot get my old files, but none of my new files get infected. Someone has to be able to figure this out!. It is aggravating that we pay good money for virus protection and some jerk can back door us. I really dont care about my .xls and .doc files, it is my treasured pictures that I care about. You would thing that someone can figure something out. Leoorl |

A new twist...
Last night, I went to Windows Update and there was nothing to update. Today, there are several updates for Windows XP and Microsoft 2007. So obviously, Microsoft is aware of the problem. There has to be someone who at Microsoft, who can figure out how to get our files back to normal. |

I got this virus on Dec. 1, Boy can one person drive alot of people crazy!
I have mcafee, I purchased iolo recovery, and I paid for a six month tech through microsoft just to get my .doc and .xls files back, with no such luck, after two days on remote the tech tells me that there's no fixing it. Boy I hope he's wrong! There has to be someone out there that can retrieve our files, even the person that created the virus, I'll even pay them to reverse the files. The files is still on the hard drive listed as either a cdd file or flr file. anti malware doesn't fix it, spyware doesn't fix it and mcafee doesnt fix it either. Anyone out there that holds the cure! Please help! |

I would suggest you backup your files even if they've been altered.
If the file extension has been changed i.e. doc or docx to fcd or something else, try changing it back to doc or docx. You'll have to enable show extensions in your folder settings. If the files have been corrupted then we can possibly do a repair on the files or extract the data from them, but we charge for data recovery. |

Had a client with the same issue, but here extensions did not change; meaning i.e. the .doc did not change. However, when she tried to open the file she got the error.
She copied the files to a usb key and then copied one file back and renamed the file and then it opened. You might not need to copy the file back and forth, just try renaming the files and see if they open. I haven't tested it myself but give it a whirl. |

We do data recovery, we can potentially repair your files. Business rates start at $200 and go up from there depending on how long it takes. |
