SHIFT+End works except on a line ending with a cell end where it selects instead the cell.
The only workaround I have found if very poor. Add a final para mark. |

As you noted, when you extend the selection with Shift+End, so that it includes the end-of-cell marker, the whole cell becomes selected.
By default, when I select content like that, copy and paste it elsewhere in the document, only the content is included (not the cell itself). Are you seeing something different?

Yes. When I paste into a table.

Thanks for the clarification.
To ensure that no cell formatting is added to the target table, I would use the Paste Options button and choose the Paste Contents option.

Thanks, but absent on this version, I think. |

Hmm, maybe Paste Options are only for text in Word 2003 (see https://shaunakelly.com/word/styles/...ionsworks.html). I can't remember. :-(
