Joining two identically formatted columns in Word

I have a rather large (multi-page) table that was formed by joining at least two tables of identical format (same number and arrangement of columns) into “one” table. This joining was done so long ago that I can’t recall how I did it.




The only visible (on-screen) sign of the joining is a thicker horizontal line between the last row of one table and the first row of the next. MS Word “knows,” however, that the second part is “different”. When I select the table and then click on the top of the leftmost column, for example, the entire column is highlighted, but only down to the end of the first part. It's like the two tables are butted up against each other, but with a fence between the two. I just want to take down the fence.


After reading some of the problems in this forum, I want to stress that these two tables are identical in terms of columns and layout. I simply need to be able to work with ONE table instead of what appears to be one table, but still has two parts that originally were separate.


Is there something I need to do in order to “meld” or “weld” the two tables into one?

The simplest solution would probably be to convert both tables to text using, say, tab separators, then select both converted ranges together and convert them back to a single table.

Sounds workable, Paul, and thanks. I've never actually tried "tables to text", but I think I did "text to tables" once and made it work.
