Default why does applying "table text bold" format to last row sometimes trigger the appearance of frames?

I have a recurring problem related to tables and frames.

I have a large document (approx. 150 pg.) that has many tables (approx. 80 tables). The tables are used to present data. The cells in the first row, and the first column contain headings/text. The remaining cells contain data/numbers. I have a caption above every table.

The problem usually appears when I change the style of a row. For example, I may change the style of a row from "table text" to "table text center", or to "table text bold". When I do this, a frame will suddenly appear and mess up my table. Parts of the table may disappear, and/or jump to another location. The caption will also suddenly jump to another location.

I can "fix" the problem by deleting each frame that appears (by putting the cursor in the messed up table and clicking on the "remove frames" button on my toolbar). But that is a big waste of time.

How do I stop the frames from appearing in the first place?
